EASY INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (NO SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED)
The torque converter of an automatic transmission generates heat while delivering torque as required. This heat is absorbed by the oil in the transmission and is extracted through a cooling system. Oil is pumped from the sump to the torque converter and to the hydraulic control in the gear train and exits to the in-tank cooler housed in the outlet tank of the radiator or to a cooler located remotely from the radiator. In either case, heat is transferred from the oil to the coolant coming from the engine cooling system. Generally, more cooling will be necessary, and the oil is cooled further by the air drawn by a fan through the auxiliary oil-to-air (OTA) cooler in a series circuit with the oil-to-water (OTW) cooler. The oil then flows to the gear train and lubricates the gears and clutches, absorbing more heat from friction, before returning to the sump.
